The Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission has appointed Mrs Maxine Orr as President of the Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal (ITFET) in Northern Ireland.
Mrs Orr was sworn into office before the Right Honourable Dame Siobhan Keegan, the Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland on Monday 19 August 2024.

Mrs Maxine Orr was educated at Queen’s University in Belfast studying law and completed a Post Graduate certificate in Professional Legal Studies in 1997. Mrs Orr was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors with the Law Society of Northern Ireland in September 1999.
Mrs Orr worked for Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors from 1997 to 2006 and during that time became a Partner and Head of the Employment Law Department.
From 2006 to 2018 Mrs Orr was a Partner in Worthington’s Commercial Solicitors and Head of the Employment Law Department.
In September 2018 Mrs Orr was appointed as an Employment Judge for the Industrial Tribunals & Fair Employment Tribunal.
In October 2022 Mrs Orr was appointed as the Vice President of the Industrial Tribunals & Fair Employment Tribunal. As Vice President Mrs Orr assisted and deputised for the President, Mr Noel Kelly. She was also responsible for the training of the Employment Judges (full time and fee paid) and the lay panel members and is the lead Mediation Judge in the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal.
