NIJAC is inviting applications for the office of fee-paid President of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDT) for Northern Ireland.
It is intended to make one appointment and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months from the anticipated date of appointment (1 August 2022).
The Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal is an independent body which considers parents’ appeals against the decisions of the Education Authority about children’s special educational needs, where the parents cannot reach agreement with the Education Authority. It also deals with claims of disability discrimination in relation to children at school.
The role of President is extremely interesting and challenging. It carries with it great responsibility, dealing as it does with the educational needs and wellbeing of children and the concerns of parents in that regard.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for appointment as the SENDT President a person must, by the anticipated date of appointment be either:
- a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least seven years standing; or
- a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least seven years standing.
This judicial appointment is a fee-paid role.
Fee: £526.58 per day
