Appointment of Members to the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission

The Chairman of the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC) welcomes the announcement from the Lord Chancellor of the appointment of six NIJAC Commissioners with effect from 12 November 2018 for varying periods of four and five years. These appointments allow NIJAC to progress its programme of work aided by the abilities, qualities and skills which those appointed will bring to the governance of the Commission, its policy making and in its selection decisions.

The Lord Chancellor has made these appointments under the powers conferred upon him by the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation and Exercise of Functions) Act 2018.

The judicial appointees are:

The Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Stephens;

The Hon. Mrs Justice Keegan;

District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) Prytherch; and

Mr Eoin Doyle QFSM

Judicial appointees have been appointed for a five year term from 12 November 2018 to 11 November 2023.

The legal appointees are:

Ms Noelle McGrenera QC; and

Mr Michael Robinson

Legal appointees have been appointed for a four year term from 12 November 2018 to 11 November 2022.
