NIJAC is inviting applications for the office of Deputy County Court Judge.
It is intended to make eleven appointments and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months from the anticipated date of the first appointment 31 March 2023 to accommodate any unforeseen vacancies during this period.
The role of the Deputy County Court Judge is to assist the judiciary in meeting the challenges of the full range of the work of the County Court and the work of the Family Care Centres. Additionally, it is expected that the Deputy County Court Judge will serve on the Historical Institutional Abuse Redress Board, if required by the Lady Chief Justice.
This is an exciting opportunity for those with experience in the areas of family, civil or criminal law to make a commitment to public service and to experience the work of the County Court.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for appointment as a Deputy County Court Judge a person must by 31 March 2023, be either:
- a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least ten years’ standing; or
- a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least ten years’ standing.
This judicial appointment is to a fee-paid role.
A Deputy County Court Judge is expected to be available to sit for a minimum of 30 days each year.
Daily Fee: £676.10. This post is pensionable.
