NIJAC Commissioners welcome the appointment of Ms Patricia MacBride to the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission

The Commissioners at the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC) have welcomed the appointment of Ms Patricia MacBride to serve on the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission.

First Minister, Michelle O’Neill, MLA, and the deputy First Minister, Emma Little Pengelly, MLA, made the appointment which is for a 5 year term from 03 September 2024 to 02 September 2029. 

Ms MacBride was appointed as a Lay Magistrate in 2005 following the Review of Criminal Justice. She currently works in refugee and asylum law. She has significant Director level experience that spans the public sector, private sector and charity/NGO/community sector, specializing in communication, regulatory and legislative compliance, equality and diversity and strategic planning. 

The Commission is chaired by the Lady Chief Justice, the Right Honourable Dame Siobhan Keegan and 12 other members; five judicial Members, five Lay Members and two Legal Members.
