NIJAC is inviting applications for the office of fee paid Legal and Ordinary Members of the Victims’ Payments Board.
It is intended to appoint 2 Legal Members and 6 Ordinary Members and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months (but no more than 15 months from the published anticipated appointment date (31 March 2025).
The main function of the Victims’ Payments Board is to hear and determine on applications to the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme due to a Troubles related injury.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for appointment as a Legal Member, a person must be;-
a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least 5 years’ standing, or
a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least 5 years’ standing.
To be eligible for appointment as an Ordinary Member, a person must;-
Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of victims of the troubles.
Have knowledge or experience of the impact of any acquired physical disability and / or impact on mental health.
- Be able to work collaboratively and contribute to collective decisions, and
- Have the ability to consider large amounts of information.
Legal Member Fee: The fee paid is £526.58 per day.
Ordinary Member Fee: The fee paid is £286.11 per day.
Closing date for the Legal Member Scheme: Monday 18 November at 12 noon.
Closing date for the Ordinary Member Scheme: Monday 25 November at 12 noon.
